RE: 1990 GMC Suburban towing capacity and a newer trailer

My 1990 pulled my old 7000lb 30 foot Sunline all up and down the east coast, I81 to Tenn, lots of big pulls. I never had a power pulling issues with it. Tow in 3rd gear the sweet spot for power was in the 2500-3000rpm range. If the cooling system is in good shape heat will not be an issue, Get a good trans cooler and install a lockup switch for the Torque Converter.

RE: For those that have a Focus Or a Fusion

If you don't want a small car choose any GM car with the 3.8 v6. They get great milage, reliable, easy to work on. I have had 2 both averaged 30mpg. One was in the bigest Olds they made and got 30 mpg. You can find it in some mid sived cars also. Ny Neice has a Focus, She got 30 mpg on a trip to Tenn. all highway with hills 70 mph.

RE: Awning out of Alignment

Mine lasted several years before I had to mark it again. The Sharpie holds up well. I keep one in the Trailer just in case I need it for something.

RE: Awning out of Alignment

My old TT awning did it often, My current one has done it also. You can take a Stainless Screw and screw the end into the roller tube slot ( Saw Dealer do this ). Or I just put a black line on the roller tube with a Sharpie. I just realign as needed from the black line.

RE: Help am I being SOLD!!!

MY BIL tows a 30 foot Rockwood bunk model. He has an 05 Dodge with 4.7 and 3:55 rear. When he first upgraded to this trailer he thought he would need a new truck. I looked up the power band for the 4.7. I told him to rev the motor up into the power band. The truck tows just fine now that he knows where the power is. He tows at the rated speed on I81 from his home in Crossville TN to PA. several times a year. The Trailer you are looking at is to heavy, I would look at trailer with a gross weight rating of 7000lbs or less. Rockwood makes many in the weight class.

RE: 2009 Chevy 1500 LH9 6.2L 403HP 417TQ 6-speed AT !

The 6.2 with 6 spped trans will only get 3:42 rear gears and have less towing rating than a 6.0 with 4 speed trans and 3:73 gears. What up with that?

RE: Were the CGs crowded this weekend?

We went to Yogi Bear CG this weekend that is usually close to full and it appeared to be about 60% full. I asked one of the "rangers" and he said the only weekend they had been full this year was Memorial Day and the rest of the time it was pretty slow. We were wondering what the rest of you had noticed? Were you at The Lury Yogi? If so their High Prices are keeping some away. Its a very nice CG but their rates have outpaced other CG's. We used to go there every year at least once and always for Halloween. That stopped last year due to their prices and fees. I am currenty setup at the Gettysburg Battlefield Resort CG , This is a membership CG where its free for most to use. There were serveral good sites not used this past weekend. Last year at this time finding a full hookup site empty would be a rare find. CG is pretty empty today.

RE: Bunk slides models...triple slide trailers with bunks....

You should be able to get a PRD for around 25K maybe less. The keystones also have the slide out bike rack in the back. I use it to carry my 2X6 boards right now.

RE: Bunk slides models...triple slide trailers with bunks....

Take a look at the Keystone Montana Mountaineer 32 PRD. It a 2 slide trailer but has a bathroom like many 5th wheels. I love the one I have.

RE: Car Total Loss - Insurance Claim Question -Help

The offer is usually negotiable. I was able up my payout on a 92 Saturn based on current costs for the car replacements and that it was in great shape with only 51k miles on it. This was in 2004 when the accident occured.

RE: When do you tie down your awning?

I tie mine down when I setup camp. Its always adjusted for water runoff. I leave my awing up all the time. I have only rolled up my awing due to straight line winds 2 times in the last 10 years. Also my trailer is in use about 90 or more days a year so the awning is out alot. Hold-a-awn is what I use. I also use de-flappers when at the beach.

RE: 1990 Damon Chevy 3500 Stalling Out - Why?

Module in Distributor. After it stalls, Vent the Fuel line and turn the key. If you get fuel then its not a fuel related problem. It you have a Timing Light clip it to one of the wires. If it does not light while cranking, its the Dist Module. I just went through this with my sons 92 chevy with 350 motor. His would run for about 15 to 20 minutes than stall and not restart

RE: 4L80E problems

Towing in OD is fine for the 4L80's. Have a good shop look at it. They are very good transmissions.

RE: What's the most you would tow with a "94" 1500 Suburban?

You Burban has the same motor my old 1990 had. I will pull 7000lbs without a problem. Tow in Drive and at highway speeds it will run in the 2800 to 3000 rpm. Right in the power band. Things to make it better. Wire in a torque converter lockup if you can with the 94. Throttle body spacer works well on those mototrs. A towing chip from Brian at TBI chips will make it run better than new.

RE: Its been two years.........

Most non slide trailers have one step. Look at some of the Northwood products ( Nash, Artic Fox) Any Sunline without slide will have one step. I'm sure there are others.
